 Lao Zi: Dao De Jing

A native Chinese scholar brings clarity to a misunderstood classic: Lao Zi: Dao De Jing is the first ever definitive translation by a native Chinese scholar from the original text, with interpretations of classic scholars, translated by Wenliang Tao. The Dao De Jing is fundamental to the Philosophical Taoism and Chinese religion.

Dao De Jing ranks only behind the Bible as the world's most translated book, but Wenliang Tao warns that it is also one of the most mistranslated, misunderstood and misinterpreted works in the world, as well. This translation is his effort to correct that injustice.

From the book's rear cover: Dao De Jing is a must read in order to understand China. Find out what Chinese intellectuals have been crazy at for 2,500 years. Historically in China, great men were all well versed in Dao De Jing. This is the first ever, definitive translation by a native Chinese scholar from the original text. One of the unique features of this book is that it includes interpretations of classic Daoism scholars.

Paperback.

Wenliang Tao, a classical Chinese specialist and Daoism expert, born in Chongqing, China in 1953, received a BA degree from Yunnan Normal University, China and an MA degree from Towson University in Maryland. He taught English for nine years before coming to the United States for his graduate education in 1991. Throughout his varied career, he has been an entrepreneur of a printing shop, computer training school, construction company and publication business while engaged in English translation of Chinese classics.
