This publication is not intended to be a manual on how to make steel, although some aspects of the steelmaking process are included.
Nor does A Mill on the Point: One Hundred and Twenty-Five Years of Steelmaking cover every facet of the physical plant at Sparrows Point.
Instead, this book by local author Elmer J. Hall has two purposes:
One is to preserve the memory of what was, at one time, the largest tidewater steel mill in the world. The second purpose is to pay tribute to the tens of thousands of men and women who plied their trade in the mill over a period of 125 years. Nothing more, nothing less.
