Author Baruch Talbott and Debby Coughlan visit Greetings & Readings for an interview and book signing on Saturday, March 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Readers will be inspired by the story of Baruch Talbott, a young orphan who grew up in the crosshairs of the Second Liberian Civil War near the turn of the 21st century. With story and insight provided by Talbott, this fast-paced book is arranged in short chapters that capture pivotal moments in Talbott's life, including unspeakable terror that tested his courage and resolve. Talbott's life lessons continued when he was adopted by an American family at the age of nine.
Reminiscent of his African heritage, Talbott recited his memories aloud and Debby Coughlan brought them to life with her written interpretation. Talbott's original words are captured in four interludes throughout the book, including the prologue and epilogue. The heartwarming, sincere account will resonate with older youth and adults.
In the Middle of the Line is an excellent choice for book clubs, high school classes and organizations. Talbott is currently a student at South River High School in Edgewater, Maryland. After graduation, he plans to attend college and become a psychologist, helping others deal with traumatic situations. Talbott met Coughlan at Joy Reigns Church, where she was his teacher.
The authors are donating a portion of the book's proceeds to provide educational support for deserving children in Liberia.
The book signing will follow an interview with the author conducted by Sherrie Johnson, a morning reporter and fill-in anchor at WMAR-TV in Baltimore, Maryland. You can catch her live reports weekdays from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. on Good Morning Maryland.
Order In the Middle of the Line before the author's appearance and request a personalized, autographed edition at no extra charge. |
